Karaoke THAT WORD conjures up bad images
of wannabe singers belting out, out of tune,
lyrics to famous songs, however this is
a fun way to party and brings friends together,
(and not everyone sings out of tune remember)

Karaoke is a word formed from putting two
Japanese words together “kara” that comes
from Karappo and means empty and oke shortened
from okesutura meaning “orchestra”
so karaoke literally means empty orchestra

Karaoke music was first developed in the region
of Kobe in Japan, where people would
sing along to either a music video or just music,
minus the vocals and eager partiers would sing along
to the song either watching the video screen
or from lyrics printed on paper. 
This became very popular in Japan in the
1970’s and has spread world wide
becoming a tremendous form of entertainment
